Yes, your health information is protected by federal privacy laws. Benefi follows HIPAA requirements as a covered entity, which means we safeguard your medical records, prescriptions, and personal health details with the same legal protections as any doctor's office or hospital.

Who can access your information

Your medical information stays within a small, defined circle. Only your Benefi care team can view your health records — these are the doctors, nurses, and support staff directly involved in your care. When you fill a prescription, the pharmacy you choose receives only the medication details needed to dispense your prescription safely.

We don't sell your data. We don't share it with your employer. Your boss cannot see your diagnoses, medications, or visit notes. Benefi provides your employer with aggregate reporting only (like total plan usage), never individual member details.

Mental health privacy gets extra protection

Your mental health visits remain separate from your primary care record. Therapy sessions and psychiatry appointments stay in their own confidential space within our system. Your primary care doctor won't see these notes unless you specifically request that we share them.

This separation works both ways. Your therapist won't automatically see your primary care visits or medications either. You control when and if these records connect, giving you complete privacy for sensitive mental health concerns.

Your privacy rights

Under HIPAA, you have specific rights regarding your health information:

Your HIPAA rights include:

  • Access — Request a copy of your medical records at any time
  • Correction — Ask us to fix errors in your health information
  • Accounting — See a list of who we've shared your information with
  • Restriction — Request limits on how we use or share your data

To exercise any of these rights, submit a privacy request through benefi.com/contact. Include your member ID and specify which records or actions you're requesting. We respond to all privacy requests within 30 days as required by law.

Your health information belongs to you. We're simply the trusted custodian, bound by federal law to protect it.
